| Registered User | PlayStation 2 Hey Guys! So, I had a little free time this weekend and I wanted to create something in MAX. So I looked around my room 'till my eyes caught my PlayStation 2, underneath my TV... This is the result of a couple of hours modelling, texturing and editing :) I'll post a render of the backside too. Comments & Critcs would be gr8! :yaya: ![]() Last edited by Anifacted; 05-16-2006 at 04:58 PM. |

| Registered User | It could do with a bit more light on the right hand side. I find with Max, the render renders fine and bright, and then when you export it to an image, the image gets a whole lot darker. I wonder why that is. Yeah, I love the way you've kept the original details like the grill type bit exact, and even the PS2 logo at the top. What you should do: Now, you've done it with a standard light, try putting Light tracer on :D It may look tonnes better too. Though I had problems using it yesterday on black and white materials for some reason. I'll post the Wii in the work in progess then... : p

| Registered User | Thanks to all of you for taking the time to comment this one... :) Kordo: Actually I didn't use any form of light. Is just a red colored material with the Color paremeter turned on maximum... So no matter how dark the scene will be, the standby button will always be visible... And Kage, you're right; it's too dark. The darkness kinda hides away the details. I like your suggestion about using Light Tracer, but the thing is that I actually have no idea of how to do so... Do you know where I can get a little help for this problem?? Thanks again |

| Registered User | Okay, I'll go through it step by step :p Go to the lights, and get a Skylight. Go to the standard Render box, and go to Advanced Light. Turn on light tracer, and set the Rays/sample to about 50 (sort of fast, but quality can be good too. Turn this up more if you start getting weird JPEG type effects in your images) Plus, put Bounces up to 1 or more depending. Do a few tests. Then render. I suggest you also right click any omni's you have in the scene and make them Specular only, and turn Diffuse off. Only downside of doing this, your scene goes pitch black until you render. Wii: I've given up really on rendering the Wii, I can't get the right effect at all from the material. Seems like a simple shape and that, but its harder than it looks.

| Registered User | No problems :) You may notice that whereever you put the Skylight it won't make any difference. Plus, it'll create its own shadows.

| Registered User | Yeah okay. I am actually quite familiar with the skylight, I just did'nt know how to use the Light Tracer. But thanks for tellin'. And if you look close at the picture, you'll see that the scene actually contains a skylight. The dark areas just at the bottom of the ps2. That's the skylight causing them to come... :) Last edited by Anifacted; 05-17-2006 at 10:53 AM. |
