Hi.
I started to study 3d almost one year ago.
So far, I havent get some similar to metal materia.

For this job i used the Reactor of 3d Max with rigid objects.

I used a light mr stop area

Final gather

Global ilumination

Time to render: 1 hour 45 minutes

The only thing i can see wrong is that none of the nuts are sitting on the surface if its ment to be this way then its rather good
