Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Guy models STL of Star Trek Voyager then prints it out using $2000 printer I found this using stumbleupon and thought I should show it off here even though it isn't my work. It's just such a great argument for the market and how fast prices fall through capitalism and the immense amount of goods it provides (had to throw some pro-capitalism in there :p) anyway, onto the art. BEHOLD! ![]() ![]() ![]() Stumble upon is brilliant, let me tell you - I find the coolest stuff, if you aren't using it with Firefox try it out. If you aren't using firefox.... ![]() I mainly lurk on this forum since I'm still working on building my own talent but I thought this was worth tossing in my buck o five

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | That's my Voyager! Hey, that's my project! Somebody found this and alerted me on another forum I am on. Anyway, it's not a printer, it's a carvewright (small CNC system). I sliced up the 3D model into sections and then carved them and glued them back together. It's 36" long. Here are some more photos of where I'm at with it now. Thanks for noticing my project! ![]() ![]() Joe |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Yeah, I know he wasn't claiming it. I was just surprised that it was being shared here. I've found it on a couple other forums too. Had no idea my project had legs!! To answer your question it's very much like a big puzzle, or like a model kit in a way. It's pretty cool that I can "print" any 3D model into a real object. Joe |
