| the artist life | I use XSI| sofitmage (curent version that I'm working on 5.01) I'm working in XSI softimagewell nearly a year now and this software have been very good tool to use when doing 3d, but now this days maya, 3ds max, lightwave all of them can do everything, you just need to get used to their interface thats all some futures in softimage: -like the render region I found them very good and practical -the nice render tree -fast modeling tools -subdivision + for up sub D and - to down sub-D -good workflow -softimage user interface i like it very much -yes softimage is very good and frendly for the good gasme developers he can provide them to test the terrain and all the objects there in the program, no more need to do your level\enviorment then go to coder then he puts that (or put that in the game level editor) and then test it for bad poly or place where you get stuck, now you can test that directly in the what viewport you whant, so its easy for the artist to make changes and get ideas on the fly that saves lots of time. -there are lot of stuff check on their website a whole bunch of stuff that is very usefull if you need it. -downside of softimage is he still have lack of plugins and tutorials aroung the net, so its good to have good coder aroung you -softimage is great software, but like the others he also have some bad sides also
