Max or Lightwave? In Max I don't know, but in Lightwave choose your skin tone, then pick a procedural texture in the diffuse layer like fractal noise, crumple, or crust. Click auto size, copy the layer, then paste it in the specular and bump layer. It'll create realistic looking skin.

Well if its max this might help alot.

Go to www.3dtotal.com>freestuff>tutorials>look for a modeling Joan of Arc tutorial>skin its quite an indepth tutorial for getting realistic skin textures
