First of all it is OVER exposed in lighting....... the bump or displace u used for the ground.... tile it bigger.... for bigger dunes.... add noise for the soft grain....you could mix or mask or just add it...

okay i look over tut... i dont read that language also... but what i can see where u missed out was on the noise... check ur noise... also use google or bable fish to translate the site... you might of missed a step... also check your smoke... ur variables ARE WRONG... dont know for shure...

U just need to decrease the displacement value from 40 to 10 and set proper lighting with mental ray.......

I've managed to get the sand texture looking like it is in the image, but how do I create the sand around the sphere (the ground sand)? Displacement map or something?

And what language is the tutorial in? Polish??

Thanks!

yep use displacement map, fr which the segments on the ground should be really much....bump map may nt give ye the exact amount ov depth dat ye want in the ditch thats creatd below the sphere

Exclamation Creating Sand Terrain

I love this tutorial! After transcribing it to English I was pleased to learn a lot about making a realistic sand material. I have one problem though... I can't figure out how to make the terrain shape like it is in the picture up top. I want to make a realistic looking sand terrain and I can't seem to get the displacement on the plane right to make the terrain look good. I can make the sand sphere okay but i need to know how to make the plane that it sits on look realistic. Can someone guide me on the right path? I understand it has a lot to do with lighting but i need the initial shape of the plane. Some kind of mix between a bigger noise map and a small vein type noise map on top of it? PLEASE HELP!!!

Maybe this help. You can create just a PLANE with NOISE modificator. I created PLANE 150cmx150cm Length i Width Segsment 40. Parameters to Noise like on screen.
