Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Well that all sounds interesting. I think a big burden in current game development is the programming of vectors, qauterions and other physics that can't be done graphically atleast not yet. I suggest you develop a engine were anything can be done graphically with a WYSIWYG editor. But that also includes a time line interface and a entity layer that allows the users to create a scipt for each object independtly. Alos make the engine very very dynamic. What I mean with dynamic is not only portability or pluginability but also a general overall layer that manages all the libraries that will have to be loaded. I should not worry to much about how the graphics are renderend you can easily use DX9.0 for all it's great functions and use functions of new version when they are released. What have you set up right now? Because creating a nice plan before you tumble right into the code is not always a bad idea. I assume you have a solid background in programming and you have the experience? If you do I might someday want to hire you when I can effort it. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | WYSIWYG WYSIWYG stands for "what you see is what you get" Instead of writing all the commands you can just press a button and the program inserts the code where it should be without you having to write your life away.. |

| Lightwave Enthusiast | Would you be able to import your own characters? I'm not great at programming but I do know a little C++. I've been using Dark Basic, but it's pretty limited for what you can do. It's got a lot of cool features, but it seems to be first-person shooter only. It'd be nice to be able to import charcters and animations, models and such. It'd also be nice of you could have an interface that would allow you to generate motion paths, instead of all that "if/then/else" crap. I'ved made some cool levels in the past, but they were mostly for RPG's. But being able to place emitters and collisions sounds awesome! And, with sprites, you can have more realistic sfx. I'd love a demo when it comes out! Last edited by Matt_D_C; 01-28-2004 at 12:31 AM. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Modding I am beginning in modding, and i am using the UT2003 game engine ( which is a pretty good enigne). I am thinking about entering the "Make Something Unreal Contest", but i wonder if anyone knows and good sites with tutorials for mapping/modelling/texturing/etc. Or if you have any suggestions thay would be appreciated as well. P.S. I am only 14 years old, and am planning on making a single-player story-driven mode for UT2003, in a modern warfare "atmosphere" |
