The Ultimate Skill Challenge

Since the challenge is a bit out of mikeab7925's original intention due to technical problem, here is a poll to see whether you are interested at this challenge, or you just want this idea to be cancelled.

Challenge Name : The Ultimate Skill Challenge (T.U.S.C)
Mission : To improve the skills of the members here in modelling, texturing, rendering, lighting and so on.
Vision : To create 'quality' members in this forum as when they participate in the challenge, they will have a chance to improve their skill in 3D graphics and compare their work with other skilled members.

1. Rules

• All members are welcomed to participate in the challenge.
• Participants will be modelling the model based on the title of the current challenge.
• An entry is only valid if it has clay and wire rendering included (final render (with texture / material) should also be included).
• No time limit is set for this challenge but participants must submit their entry within 1 month before the voting day.
• Participants must also write these informations:
  - Program(s) used
  - Polygon count
  Following information is not important but participants are advised to include as well.
  - Time of making
  - Time of render
  - Time of texturing

2. Contest and voting:

• Contest will run continuously. There will be a new title for the challenge every month.
• The voting thread will be opened when the challenge ends (after a month). It will be created when there is a new title for the challenge, but remain locked.
• There must have at least 8 entries for a title before voting starts so that it would be fair.
• All members are free to vote on their favourite entry at the end of every month after the challenge has been started (this should be opened 24hrs due to different time zones).
• Voting will be done via forum poll system (participants mustn't vote for themselves). If participants voted for themselves, their entry will be automatically disqualified.
• Voting thread will be locked on all time other than the voting day (which is the last day of the month after a title is given). Participants are not allowed to submit any new entry on the voting day.
• Only 4 (or less) winners will receive awards for every title (subject) of the challenge. If a person won all the 4 different types of awards for the month, he/she will receive another outstanding award.
• There will be 1 title per month.

@Need_Help: What are you doing? We already have the thread and the poll! We don't need another one. And since you two are mad on each other for no reasons you can just deal it somewhere else and not here. We are trying to make this challenge fun, not dull and boring. Please continue this discussion here.

Ok, I must clear up some things :
1) I am not mad on him (usually if I'm mad / annoyed, I won't even write 'thanks' at the end of my post).
2) The original thread has been deleted (I don't know what happened).
3) It's not me who want to 'split' it into 2 different challenges. mikeab7925 said that this challenge is out of his initial intention, and he will continue his unofficial christmas challenge. So, when I see that he is not taking part anymore, so I want to ask for the members' opinion. If I don't do that, I'm afraid that all our time will be wasted, as nobody is going to continue this challenge again.
4) The purpose of this poll is to know whether the members want to have this challenge, or just cancel it because as mike said, he wants a competition to last forever and the admins / moderators don't have to be involved. However, since the award system is used, it will have a deadline and the admins / moderators will involve. The time when you choose the winner will be the deadline, and if you want to give awards, only admins / moderators can do that.

I don't know why will you (and maybe some other people as well) think that I'm mad at him (for no reason?). I was just writing out the facts, and my opinion at that post (the thread has been deleted now, anyone can tell me why?). If you don't know, well, I just want to inform that when I'm angry / annoyed by someone, I won't even want to post there or I will just write a post without 'Thanks'.

the thread was deleted after SDA requested we start over. we lost all track of things there and you started your own thread. i figured you didn't want that type of challenge and you were done with it.

Do you mind telling me which sentence / post made you think that I don't want to have that kind of challenge? So far I am just giving out my opinion, and asking questions that might be a problem if we have that kind of challenge (with award system but no deadline / not involving admins / moderators)

Again, the reason for starting this thread is to make sure that all the efforts that we put in for T.U.S.C won't be 'wasted', since you have said that you will continue your unofficial challenge. That sounds like you will 'quit' taking part in T.U.S.C. I have started this thread before the original thread was deleted, just with the purpose of getting the members' opinion (why must it be deleted? I don't get the point of doing so, even if it is an abandoned idea).

Need_Help, you must understand that all of us have different things to do else than to be here and chat. Many of us have job from 7am to 6pm so we can't be here all the time posting, that just isn't wasting time. Mike has a good point and I agree with him that your new thread was just to much. The poll same as mine was too much don't you think? You didn't need to post that poll, you should have just brought up the problem in our thread and we would have tried to fix it.

This debate is just useless and I think we should return on original idea. Please copy your ideas on this thread and we will continue debating and solving problems and ideas there. No need for new threads and more mess, we can do this in only one thread!

PS: I'm not trying to make Mike, you or anyone mad here, I just want this challenge to live. Mike and me are leading this show, this was generally our idea, so if you want to help do so, if not don't sabotage our work.

Lets make this as less messy and complicated we can, and work together on this. Thank you...
