Tips

I thought i would start a thread to help everyone with tips from all users. so if you have a helpful tip fill free to add it on here

1. Chamfer edges - chamfer the edges of your objects, because in real life you usually wont see totaly sharp edges on objects.

2. When unwrapping something make sure you have it how u want it before you start to texture it because it will save time so u don't have to go back and forth and re due your textures

3. build up a texture library - if you see or use a good texture make sure u save it in a file so u can use it again, and over the weeks, months, years you will have a lot of textures which will save time since you have them all right on your computer already.

4. if you are making something you really want to do, take your time so it looks good

5. ctrl+L (3ds max) - turns on and off the lights view in your viewport so you can see everything

6. (3ds max) go to customize -> prefrences -> viewports -> configure driver -> and check the box that says "match bitmap size as closley as possibel" - and the textures will show up much clearer in the viewports (this helps with reference images especially)

I have one, but unfortunately it is no longer in function. Ctrl+C once was quick way to wield vertex within close range (1.0). This was actually long ago, I don't know why did they remove that. I even think the didn't remove it, so if anyone can help me with this one it would be helpful for all of us. This is for 3D Max btw.

Cheers

this 1 is for Vray.....wen rendering anything, goto color mapping n choose "Gamma Correction" type.....coz wen ye render in linear space, ye get darker output, but wen ye save it n open the same output in photoshop or sumthin, it shows up brighter, so Linear Multiply sort ov tricks ye frm seein the correct bright output....on the other hand Gamma Correction, gives n already color correctd output.

:D

more tips shalt b shared :D

heres some vray settings i generally use, and i get good renders from it.

(be careful with the color mapping section because it will make your image to bright or to dark, u just have to play around with the settings.)

If you are a Vray user, HSV Exponential (under Color Mapping) can prevent anything in the scene from getting 'overburnt'.

Thanks.
