Software question

I'm new to all this artistic 3D modeling as I have only done CAD work. I am trying to find software that meets my needs. Where I work, we simulate vehicles driving down a road. An output file is created when the simulation runs which contains info like the vehicle's position, orientation, etc.

Is there any software that lets you import a road (or strictly modify terrain to match road dimensions), import CAD models, and import animation curve or data (position, velocity, etc.)? After looking into many programs, I've come up short.

I know Vue lets you edit the terrain with scripting, and you can import CAD models, but I can't find a way to import your own animation data. Looks like I have to do it manually.

Thanks for any help,
Mike

Why don't you try the latest 3Ds max. As I've heard, it has an terrain editor, haven't tried it yet tho. And as for the road, you can draw a simple line (preferably snapped on the ground that you've made) and do the sweep and adjust it to be for the shape that you want. The line that you have draw will then "extrude" your shape along the line.

As for the animation, I really don't know how do you even save such files, since I am not animator... well... not yet ;). But... You can make an object follow your previously created line by going in to motion section and selecting the object (in this case, the car), go to trajectories and click convert from, and click the line. Of course, you will need to rise the line to be above the road first (if the line is under after sweeping).

That is about it. :)

It was intended as a replacement for GW-BASIC, and was shipped together with MS-DOS 5.0 and higher, including Windows 95. QBasic was based on the earlier QuickBASIC 4.5 compiler but without QuickBASIC's compiler and linker elements.
