Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Well if you look at clean metal in real life they are highly reflective to light. that means that your main focus when making the metal material in max is that you gett the reflection and glossiness right. how much experience do you gott in 3ds max and material making?

| Hallowed Devil | hey ye want a clean metal rite???? well.....goto a standard material, n choose "Metal" rather dan "Blinn" in the Shader Basic Parameters.....tis thing changes the specular n Glossiness methods.....nw jus play around wid the Specular level n Glossiness level, n choose the color ye want to......if its a shining alloy lyk a Steel or sumthin, den evn gv a Reflection Map to it wid very low value......ye cn also put a specific map in the Diffuse to gv it a shiny n reflective look; jus luk into yer Maps/Reflections sub-folder in the 3Dmax folder....n apply the "Chromic" map in the Diffuse, wid least tiling, as in 0.2 X n 0.2 Y, or sumthin lyk dat.... try dese techniques out, n if nething else, dnt hesitate askin :)

| Member | @ Dave1005 : Those materials are for Brazil r/s renderer. As he said "Does anyone have some advice on how to get a shiney metal material within max ?", so I assume that he is using MentalRay and how can he open those materials? (does Brazil r/s has its own material, just like VrayMtl or it is using normal Standard material in Max?) Thanks. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | those materials don't require the brazil r/s. they can be used independently. if he wants to, there is the free version of the brazil r/s that he can download from splutterfish.com. |
