Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Extruding Problem ! Hey guys... I got a specific Problem in 3DS Max 2009 while extruding sum faces... As you can see in the picture I wanted to extrude these faces...but I want them to go straight out the Z angle... ![]() In Tools like Wings3D I can set the Angle it will be extruded... In 3DS Max I just can choose Local, Group, Polygon...which all give me unwanted results... I already tried to rotate the mesh ^^ so it will may extrude the right way...but it stays in that weird result. anybody knows what I'm doing wrong? Charlie |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | try with local normal type or move the mesh, no rotate. however, i think before beginning a complexe modeling like a character, you should work on tutorials, or try the speed modeling for beginner here. You seems to need lot of tips and help for some basic things in 3ds max. I know it's boring and i understand you want to do something strong and impressive, but if you've some difficulties to extrude 3 polys...i guess that the whole modeling will be extremly hard for you, and I prefer to not think about the texturing and rendering for now. I know that's not something you want to ear, but if you don't proceed step by step, there is a risk for you to be put off. :)

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I already saw all tutorials and build a weapon for my mod... See my bonesword ingame of Mount & Blade... ![]() And I can model that helmet I want to ^_^ But it's just that extruding thingie what's disturbing me And as I said "I just can choose Local, Group, Polygon...which all give me unwanted results..." - Even Local Normal isn't working... Moving the Mesh won't help, too...I aligned the Mesh to 0x 0y 0z ...dont know what's the problem there thx for help anyway ! Charlie |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Solution Had to create an account just for this which is annoying and if i didn't have such trouble finding the answer to the same problem i wouldn't have bothered anyway, my teacher finally got back to me, all you have to do is reset the xform in the utilities rollout to the right then collapse the stack, this will crush the model a bit but once you've scaled it out again it should work fine. |
