Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Beginner = Where do I start? Hi, As you may have noticed, I am new here ![]() I know that I should snoop about and read tuts in the tutorial section, but I am completely new to this, and I have absolutely no idea where to start !So I'd like to add to a 720p video some CG, in the form of something falling down from the sky and into a building (Transformers style :P). So where should I start? Like what program should I download/buy? And what tuts should I read? Any help would be greatly apreceated ! |

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Hey firstly welcome to 3dm3 :D And the answer to your question is there are many programs you can use to create cg however it takes a hell of a lot of practice to create excellent pieces of work i use 3ds max. 3ds max is a program by autodesk commonly used to create assets for games but can be used for many other things. Maya is also an autodesk product this is more used for films don't ask why I don't know lol Zbrush this is a excellent product you can sculpt models in 3d space and create some high detailed work if you know how to use it (company: Pixelogic) blender: now this is a free program and i would recommend it to anyone who cant afford the big named brands. Its a top notch program and offers all the bits and bobs to get the job done i dont use it personally however i have watched a few tutorials in my time to know its pretty good. I think that's it. I'am sure other 3dm3 members will correct me if I'am wrong however i would start off simple then move up like model stuff on your desk and then move up to bigger stuff that is more complex and if i where you i would use blender. as for your transformer video, it takes practice. Get good enough and you will have an army of transformers falling out of the sky haha. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | First of all, thanks for your reply, after such a long time, I didn't think anyone would bother. And then, I think I'll go with 3Ds max since I've already seen how easy it is to use. But I don't care so much about the detail, more like the animation, so that it looks real, as if it was originaly in the video. So if you say blender is the easiest, I'll check it out, but most free programs have a reputation of being quite simple and basic. Anyways, thanks for the help ![]() |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | hi isashach, i also started my first 3D-activitys with blender half year ago . Some features are circuitous I think. Two weeks ago I started my first activities with Maya. It is more intuitional in my opinion. The user-interface in Maya is easelyer then in Blender. That's my opinion. But I am also a beginner in Maya, so I don't can really say which program is better for beginner. Make your own experiences and post it here ![]() |
