Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Beginner Questions Hey there 3dm3! I'm new to the forums obviously from my post count but I decided to take a creative turn in my life and hopefully make something out of it. I'de like to start off by saying that i'm not sure if Im putting this in the correct forum so please feel free to yell at me and move it. I've been thinking a lot about the jobs and college course direction I should take to become a professional CG animator whether it be in feature films or video games, ect. Every time I think about it I just get caught up in my thoughts of everything and it seems like a daunting task to figure out where to go, what to learn, what programs to use, ect, ect. Sorry for the vague/generality of the questions but it should be a good start. My main task and hope is to get into CG animation in movies, live action and animated. So with that information in mind hopefully you all can answer a few questions for me. What course direction for college should I look at? Should I take an internship over college? What programs should I familiarize myself with? These are some questions to start off. I appreciate all the help as it seems like a great work field to get into! |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | You should learn 3D Studio Max or Maya, both made by Autodesk. You should take college courses instead of an internship. Get an internship after you take some courses. If you go through a four-year university, then be prepared to take two years of prerequisites. If you enroll at a community college, then you can take a 3d modelling/animation course almost instantly, especially, if you take the class as a Continuing Education class. |
