Any help and advice for a total noob please!

Hi guys,

I'm a total noob at 3D graphcs.
I was wondering what software (free) is the best to use?
And the best way to get started without getting frustrated etc...?

I have found Blender which seems overwelming but at least it's free.
Any help and advice would be greatly appreceated.

The best free 3D modelling software is Blender3D because it has the most features. The best way to get started without getting frustrated is to make sure that you are really interested and determined to do something that you want in 3D. You can always learn it at some tutorial sites, such as :
Photoshop Tutorials and Flash Tutorials - Tutorialized
CGTutorials.com - The Pillar of Computer Graphics

Thanks and good luck learning / modelling.

You can add those under 'Render Elements' (1 of the tabs at Rendering Settings, you can go there by pressing F10 as well). As for compositing them in Photoshop....you can search for tutorials in any search engine because each pass needs different blending method.

Thanks.

Er....actually what I'm talking is just diffuse pass, reflection, refraction etc. (since he should be asking for these when he also asked how to composite them). To render AO pass, all you need to do is just to make the material (assume that you are using MentalRay) and apply the materials to the models. Then, you just have to render it like what you do normally.

If you are using Vray, you can also download the free script (faster and easier)

Thanks. (another 'Thanks' for your 'Thank You' at my previous post :) )
