| 9MM G´s Thang | Hey guys, Was wondering what is the difference between Maya 2010 and 3DS Max i do certanly feel like Maya is a lot more easier to use then Max but then there are more tutorials for Max why is that? Maya is quite faster and well a lot easier to find stuff, well maybe could be because thats what i started with? i don´t understand why people prefer Max over Maya if someone could please explain thanks ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| Supreme Digital Artist | You see, this is what it really is. I have started a long time ago with max, and I have tried several times to work with maya and failed. So my respond to your conclusion witch is better would be, witch ever you have started. Both programs offer much and almost equally easy and fast (well more or less, both of them has the other thing that the other one doesn't have). And the reason that max has more tuts is that max is older than maya. No offense but max was on the market since I was in 7th grade. That was version 3.11 that I worked on, and that was in the year 1999 (1998) and maybe earlier considering it was 3.11 then. 3D's max is apparently made for DOS platform, but Maya is maybe few years younger and offers a different control for your graphics. I hope I did helped to clear smtn for ya ![]() P.S. My neighbor used to use 3Ds max and then he switched to maya. Cheers. ![]() |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | hi guys in my experience max is traditionally used for game design and maya is mainly for 3d vfx, although both can be used for either. for me personally however i use max and i love it to death right from the first version i ever used, 3d studio MAX r3 back when discreet still owned it. im now useing 3ds max 2009. iv tryed my had at maya quite a few times but cannot get my head around the complex UI. this isn't to say that maya isnt a very powerful program. i know it is, and because that both max and maya are now owned and developed by autodesk, they are slowly becoming the same program. so i would take a gamble at saying in the near future it wont matter which one you learn with wether it's max or maya the skills learnt in it will apply to the other.. so just learn with what your comfortable with hope this hepls your desision.
