Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Ok so I just wanted to find out of what kinds of methods do you use to start modeling... I ve seen many nice models from people in this website so I wanted to find out what methods do they use. About me.. Never taken any modeling lessons and all started by a friend of me introducing me a program called solidworks. I first start modeling there (and still do ) coz bulleans, extrudes are more acurate from 3dmax. Also on any object you can use fillet or champer at any time at any angle. Then I import my model in 3dmax and turn it into a mesh to edit and texture it. But as I see this is not the best way to model. It takes much time and some times the files are massive making the model hard to work. I wana learn to use NURBS modeling but dont know If this is a good way to model. Any opinions? |

| Forum Moderator ![]() | It all depends on what you are modeling... NURBS are great if you are working with complex forms (cars, characters, lanscapes, etc) but if your models are architecture related, NURBS are just too much. I sometimes model in ADT and then take it to 3DStudio, but because I need the plans of the building modelled... if not, you need to find the shortest way to model each element, combining tools and methods. Good Luck and hope it was the kind of answer you were looking for... |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Ok so you all agree that NURBS should be my next step on modeling? I m interested on modeling cars actually and do product design. I ve got a bachelor of arts in transport design [ http://www.coventry.ac.uk/csad/courses/ugrad/td.htm ] so hopefully my modeling will have to do in the future with the above. P.S. Nice nick Sokratas!!! As a Greek person your nick makes me feel really proud. |
