how to make Realistic trees in 3dsMax

How to make realistic trees in 3DSMAx. Tried using with scatter for my exteriors, but seems to be too heavy. with opacity mapped planes it looks nice but no 3D look in the aerial and side views. Pls suggest a brilliant method which is not heavy to load and render..thanks

Forest Pack Pro (www.itoosoft.com) is AWESOME for trees...unfortunately it's kinda pricy and only works for Max 4...
Although if you have Max 6 then you can use the tree example in the 3rd party installers. Pretty good quality too. Hope that helps.

Later.

Halo - water can be easy with a plane and the noise/ripple modifier. (Or whatever works for you!) Use the "ground-water" material in the mat editor and you can get nice results!
