ive made a model of a gorilla in 3d studio max, im trying to give it hair but is really difficult, im using hair and fur on max and my computer keeps crashing, even tho its brand new and has a i7 processor with 2 graphics cards. does any one have any suggestions on how to create hair for the gorilla

p.s i tried using scanline renderer and it doesnt crash, yet mental ray crashes everytime. can it not handle more than 50,000 hairs?

Maybe you should try to render hair&fur as a mesh?

i kind of figured something out, i think it was because the model was high poly that it just couldnt handle it so i cloned the model then added a Multires modifier on it to reduce the polys then added hair and fur to that and just turned the visability of it off under object properties.
