Creating Grass

I have several projects where i want to use realistic looking grass (lawns, hills, etc.) in the scene. Only one thing, how do you create such things?? I've tried "Hair & Fur" but didn't have a good result yet. I use 3ds max by the way.

Can someone help me???? I'd really appreciate it!

hey smartass, don't you think I spent hours searching google?? And what would be the use of this forum if we can't ask questions about obstacles you encounter? Then this part of the forum could be wiped away, abandoned, forgotten. Dude, if you think google is god, what are you doin here then????

Well There is a pretty good way by scattering normal polygons and then adding a texture with Opacity.
Atleast thats what I do.Good luck!

Could you show me something? I've tried it too, but wasn't too satisfied. I saw Vue uses the same technique, but then called ecosystem. I'm using that now and it gives good result

You can get the best result from 3dmax hair and fur,but the reality is depened upon the materials, lighting, shadows and environment settings.
1- use the omni light
2-go to light settings
3-slect inverse decay instead of none
4-select area shadow type
5-use bump map in material editor
this is the easiest and fastese way to getting reality to any things not only to grass

maybe i wasn't so clear, but it is for scenes outside in daylight. How would a omni light represent the sunlight?

vray displacement map FTW :D its a great tool no doubt about it

this is if you have it?

also try modelling a few blades then attach them together then add them a proxy then scatter them across a plane I do this quite often gets different looks and effects also its fast.
