Rep Power: 0 ![]() | WIP: Boondocks Character Reference Hello All, ![]() I'm new as you can see, to your community. I plan to hopefully make some contributions and take in some knowledge as well, while I'm here. I'm going through a phase at the moment in my 3D develop which is creating 3D characters from picture references. This character is known as Huey Freeman from the series The Boondocks. I plan to create the full model of him, not just the head portion, in order to tune my skills more. So far I'm starting him off in Z-Brush and as it progresses I'd like any creative input you might want to share. Peace to all creators and cow cookies for all the haters.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | WIP continued ![]() ![]() ![]() He's actually my first attempt at doing an Anime style character skulpt. I think he's coming along nicely though. Awaiting shaping of Afro. Perhaps I'll re-poly the hair in order to get the jagged look like the toon.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Thanks for droppin' me some input Izmal. As to your question. I'm actually going to make a full body skulpt, statue style and texture him up, pose'em up and poly the hair for the render. However as I stated earlier, I'll be making some variations, like giving him real hair on one to see how it comes off, give him a little more life and rig him up for animation in C4D or Max 9. A toon shader route, I hadn't originally thought about, but could be worth a look to see what it yields. However, any crits or input as I create will be appreciated. Hope to see you around. Peace

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Hey, that's really cool so far. The eye area is already capturing the expression from the art. One thing though that seems to differ from your model and the concept art is the shape of the face. I've seen the art of the Boondocks and the chin area is usually more pointed and triangular to give it a more harsh looking shape. Right now with the more rounded face of your model it makes him look a bit too baby faced, and not that bad-ass troublemaker Huey is. :) |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Thanks for the input Saurie. I've not been able to do much as of late because I'm away on business, but soon I'll be back in the lab working harder than ever, and we'll see what we can do to meet your expectations of Huey and mine. I'm very interested in what my final product of him will turnout. However I'll try not to let anyone down. He's my boy. Peace and again thanks for the input everyone.
