W.I.P. - Audi TT

Hi my name is Rasmus and I come from DK.
I've been watching 3d sites on the net for a while and been doing my own little creations, by following tutorials and all that..

So I was thinking since I've never really done anything by myself I might just start now ^^
so here goes:

Model: Audi TT
Software: 3dsmax 7 + vray
experience in 3d...: kinda really noobish imo

I'll be filling in with production pics and wires and materials for all to see and i hope you will all like seeing the progress as well as give me C&C :)
first render:

know it's not much but it's coming along

Here's all renders up and untill now and two wires one from the start of the process and one from the current step:
(there has been added no Chamfer yet)

you can prolly see that from 4 to 5 the front grill has been removed... i just made that as a little break from the body modeling

Thanks a bunch dude :)
I'm pretty happy with it myself

but now comes the part i simply can't grasp.... how to make those damn chamfer lines that collides with "extrusion height -1, extrusion base width 0,01" without screwing up the model.... :'(

can somebody plz give me some hints, tips or tricks how to do this?

Are you talking about bevel? Are you modeling in poly or mesh? Cause I think the tools are a little different.

I am not sure if you know that 4 sided polys smooth much nicer than 3 sided (or triangles) You got some tri's in the front, I am no expert but to get those fixed I would do this:
Green = new cuts
Red = remove lines
I would make the cuts first.then remove the edges so there will be less change in geometry shape.
Like I said this is what I would do, if you want to try it you should save your file try it and if you don't like it then just close max without saving! (most important part) and open the last file.

#DK_ Studios : hey tak man! i think that just might help me ^^ not at my com right now but I'll definetly try doing that!

I am talking about a poly model, using poly modeling, and it's like when you need to make thin grooves that go in to the model like on:

along the side of the hood of the car you see... i have to make those and when they intersects with a chamfer the model always get's f'ed up if it not straight lines..

I'll make a pic of what i mean later but now I'm not a my com and I'm about to get too much alcohol in my system to even see in 3d.. so ^^ cya for now

I am not exactly sure what part you are talking about.
Just throw up a picture of the mesh with the problem and I will try to help.
Have fun with your alcohol. :beer::alc:

really sorry if i`m reviving a dead thread, but i have seen some images of audi tt where the grill only had the horizontal slits and no vertical ones...I had made the grill with only the horizontal slits and the audi logo. does anyone know which year`s audi tt model was like mine?
