Old Alley

Hey guys,

yet another scene that I'm working on (I guess that would make it 5 scenes I'm currently working on lol). This is mainly a texturing and lighting exercise, but I want to see how a final scene of this would come out. Started last night :D

Original VRay render:

Some PS work added:

Edit: latest render uploaded (shown below)

Ok here's a quick update. I completely remodeled the main wall (otherwise I couldn't fix the window) and I also added a broken vase and a cardboard box (I know the box doesn't look good). The last thing I updated was the wall and ground textures. I wanted to make them look more realistic (notice the green at the bottom of the wall and end of the ground). More updates coming :D

Haha thanks for the comments guys, I appreciate the feedback. Kazus, yes I agree with you about the window, I think it looks too perfect and uniform..I tried to make it look worn in the first render by chamfering the edges but it ended up screwing up the wall (I had to use boolean to create it. Does anyone know of a method on how I can correctly bevel the window without screwing up the geometry? Thanks!

Booleans-evil things. The mesh is very, verrrryyy, bad after it. So-Poly modelling.

Yeah I hate using Boolean...but I used powerboolean for this (but it still screwed up on a couple polygons). Quick update, I added a tree on the left and some leaves under it, an ugly shoe on the steps (which doesn't look like a shoe at all, so I will delete it), and something on the ground (that metal plate). Comments please :D

Ok here's another update, I modeled a soccer ball and added some dirt on it and tried to make it look somewhat flat (like when air is lost), and I also made a soda can and a small puddle of water (although I think it's too big). Comments please :D

Haha thanks for the nice comment minimus, I think texturing is my strongest point in 3D art. I'm only going to use this for an image, but it's going to be a major part of my portfolio..depending on how powerful my new pc is gonna be, this just might happen to be part of a new animation, we will just have to see :D

Ok here's another update...I decided to take out the soccer ball because it was ruining the mood of the scene in my opinion...and it didn't fit in the atmosphere. I also took out the cardboard box because it looked horrible in my opinion. I added a budweiser beer can and lowered the ground area near the water somewhat, and lastly I modeled a pair a pants with some shoes and rigged it (yes...I rigged a pair of pants lol). There is no actual person modeled, because you wouldn't be able to see the body anyway. It was just a simulation, comments please :D

Haha thanks minimus, I hope to join Blizzard Entertainment or some other great CG company after I get through highschool and college. Texturing is hard for some, but all you really need to do is get experienced with mix maps and do a ton of experimentation (and Photoshop work). Here's a new update render, I added a new vase with some dried-out flowers in it. Comments please :D

lol I forgot to post the next 2 updates. Another update...I changed the sunlight color somewhat to a more reddish tint, faded the gutter textures, added a bucket under the waterpipe, a wine bottle next to the drunk guy, and some more leaves (blown by the wind). Comments please :D
