Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Introduction and problem solving needed. Hey everyone. I have never posted here, but I have been using 3ds max 2009 since...2009 or so. Anyway, I'm not nearly as good as I should be, but I know a lot and learning more everyday. Anyway, I always have questions and use google a lot, but personal help is sometimes needed. So I'm gonna post here when I can and maybe get input and help. And I'll try to do the same. I'm not going to be one of those one time posters and you'll never hear of me again. Anyway, here is my first problem - ![]() I built a half corner of Daytona Speedway. My process was very simple. I created a plane 500 feet long and 120 feet wide. I had it 72 sections long and 3 sections wide (Asphalt, concrete, and grass). I took the asphalt portion and angled it 30 degrees up. I made the wall section that's 28 feet long and arrayed it 500 feet down the track. Angled it 30 degrees then grouped it with the plane and then put a bend modifier on the whole track and fence and set it to 90 degrees. I placed the car models, textured, used the daylight system (I'm rendering with Mental Ray), and then rendered. My problem is this, is that the proper way to build this? It was quick and easy, but something seems off and I don't know if the bend modifier distorts the angles and so forth. ALSO, how can I snap the cars to the track so I can animate it easier and not have to meticulously place each car? I hope this makes sense. Thank you for your time and I look forward to a long relationship here at 3dm3. Thanks again! Last edited by HoosierDaddy; 02-10-2011 at 03:16 AM.. |
