you could try and put it in a space scene with all stars in the backround and maybe a planet in the corner, and as far as any extra modelling goes, i dont think there's any need

Good stuff

Solid - You think its done? Awesome, I just thought that it needed more, but maybe im over analyzing. So I guess Ill just texture this bad boy (actually my buddy is going to texture it) and add the rest of detail, there.

Wackter - Thanks, I plan on Mesh smoothing certain areas, once I think all the modeling is done, thanks for the reminder.

Thanks guys

Then I'll throw it in a scene and hopefully animate it.

good job man, now keep going with this project and dont be like me - saying to myself (not literally) that i'll finish it later, and just keep pushing it till it never gets done.
:D

You're using radiosity, light tracer or something? It's not the case in space -or even in a WIP.
The model's details are almost hidden by the low contrast between light and shadow.
Besides that the model is looking good, waiting to see it textured

I see...........I tried putting a plane underneath, (as a suggestion by sarN, from 3dtotal.com) it seems the skylight is reflecting of it and yo can see it a bit better in detail. What else can I do to improve? I am very weak in lighting techniques.

Thanks for your comments Nsert, I might add, your work is awesome. How long you been into CG for?

not to me,
and for the lighting, i'd use a strong omni light where the explosion is, and a few weaker ones ins front of the ship (so we can actually see it)
Great job by the way  :coolp:

Cool I'll try that, im still working on lighting for the model, itself, but i'll defintaley try it in the scene as well.

I use brazil for rendering, does anyone have a good basic setup where the model will look good and the light/shadows look nice? Any setup tips as well, again im not stong in lighting tech.

By the way thanks very much for all the help.

I can help you in the space scenes: You don't need more than 2 lights (for a simple scene, with no explosions or lasers, ion beams, etc.).
One light should be from the sun in the solar system (with shadow casting-preferably ray-trace).
And another one should be in the opposing direction with very low intensity (maybe no shadow casting), coming from the stars from other solar systems.
Also for space scenes you don't need Brazil. The lack of atmosphere or air, doesn't causes the light to bounce or be reflected.

I work practicaly for almost 3 years, and theoreticaly for a year and a half (the time when I actually started to learn and practice, not just to fool around)
