Talking B&I Mixed Mediterranean Scene

Hey guys. Well since I just finished my "Street in Spain" scene, I decided to start on a new European scene. This time a Bulgarian and Italian style mix (so there will be elements of both.) I just started it a few minutes ago, and so far I started on a new house/apartment (it will be bigger soon.) I also did a different approah to the roofing style if you notice. I will probably tone down the texturing on the roof tiles, unless I end up liking the way they are set up. Well I know there isn't much to critique on yet but your comments are appreciated. Thanks!

Ok I was experimenting with some graffiti mix maps and stuff in 3dsmax and came out with some cool results. Note that these are just tests and not for the final wall material. I personally like the first one the most. But I was thinking of making it have the green plaster mixed in so that it looks like it is really part of the house. Which one do you like the most? Comments please! :D

Ok here's a small update. I just started on making the apartment (obviously). The graffiti wall on it is probably the most complex mix/blending material I have ever made. The diffuse map is a mix map that consists of 2 other mix maps, and one of those maps is also a mix map lol. (The graffiti mix.) 6 color maps and 5 dirt maps and masked images. Comments please!

Ok I might change the dirt map on the graffiti wall, or maybe I will just make textures on the top half of the wall something else (like a plaster or something that looks applied over it...well here's a tag I am using. It is originally a Photo I found online:

I cut out a specific part in Photoshop (with the polygon selection tool) and then I copied it onto a new document:

Then I saved it as the diffuse texture and then made the masked image:

Here is a useage example (a rendered map in 3dsmax):

Sorry for the delay, I have just been very busy lately. Ok here's an update. I finally finished the very odd looking barber shop. Do you like the candystripe post? I am trying to make the text in the Barber sign to be in Bulgarian but none of my fonts that I want for it support it (so it's temporarily in Italian.) I also made the street longer. I will begin on some new buildings, and small objects. I think this scene will be much better than my Street in Spain (I know it's hard to say that because I am so early in the process of this scene but I guarantee it will be better.) Comments please!

Original Render:

Some PS work added:

Heya Smasher :)

Looking good, keep it up man :) I prefer the top render to the bottom one...I think maybe too much PS work in the bottom one...that's just me though :) The candystripe post fits in nicely. :) Keep us updated :)

Mills :)

Haha thanks Millies! Ok here's an update. I started texturing the telephone poles, I will work on it some more. I added a couple more trees and also another building next to the barbershop in the back. I used ALOT of bitmaps for that building's mix maps. I also changed the wire connecting the house and apartment near the front. I think it looks better and more realistic now. Well, so far so good I think. I will start on some more buildings, a skateboard, some trash and paper, and alot of other small objects for details. Comments please! :D

Ok here's another update. I added another building on the left side of the barbershop. I might change where it is because I want a taller apartment building placed next to the barbershop (so you can actually see that something is there.) I also added a lost dog sign (I know it's really hard to see the text) on the front powerline pole. Comments please! :D

Thanks Izmal! Sure I will post the VRay settings when I get some more time. Email me at Viper680@hotmail.com and I can send you a renderpreset file that I made for these render settings. Ok here's another update. I added a water tower in the back and a bench in front of the barbershop. I got some more buildings to add of course. I'm just trying to think of a good plan for the size and style. Maybe a shop or store, or some more apartments. I will add some more details to the water tower, maybe like a ladder on the side or something. Comments and critiques please! :D

I forgot all about posting the rest of the WIP for this scene in here lol. The forums here are dead...we need to bring them back to life people! Well anyways, here's an update of the scene. This is the latest image of the scene so far. As you can see I changed around and added some stuff. I haven't worked on this scene for a long time.

I am dedicating this scene to my grandmother who passed away last week, and to my great-grandfather Paupo Simaku, who has also grieved alot due to the recent unforturnate events. Comments please!

I have a problem with my scene...the old renders of it were rendered in VRay 1.09.03, and they had better lighting and everything. But now since I am rendering it with VRay 1.47.02 the lighting is really messed up. It has the exact same lighting settings as before but it screws up for some reason...is it a bug or something? I really need your help! There is also something wrong with the windows on the right wall of the tall apartment building on the left (in the back). The window frames look black for some reason...any reason why it looks like that? I may have to change the bitmap...
