| Pensioner | Nice at all. But I would not put any plants in it. Its ancient pottery digged out from an archeological finding and not a cheap flower pot, right?

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Hey necksmasher nice pottery i like the last dirt render but it is just a little blurry and on sand maybe if you try to make some wind traces on the sand, would give a more realistic feeling. about the dirt on the pottery, i´ll try to make a short explanation of i would do it. Apply some dirt to your texture in a second layer in photoshop or any other similar program, save your texture with dirt and the layer with the dirt as a separate texture in black and white but invert the colors, then apply your texture to your material in max as usual and in the maps rollout choose the dirt texture on the displacement slot, i used 5 for the displacement value, then convert your pot in to editable poly, enable subdivision displacement in the subdivision displacement rollout and render. BTW, it doesn't looks like crap man  |

| Forum Moderator ![]() | wow Skinfather thanks alot for the comment man! (and thanks for saying it doesnt look like crap lol) anyways, i really appreciate the advice. i have photoshop also, so i will just do what you said and add some nice dirt to the textures. but i wanted to ask one thing, should i take out the bump maps for the materials of the pottery models then? (for the displacement). or should i keep them? also, for the dirt painting in photoshop, should i set the opacity under 100% so that you can still see the rest of the texture? (under it) thanks! :D
