Rep Power: 5 ![]() | [QUOTE=Abhisheka;84944]This is my 3d matte painting for cliff of deah challenge.... [/qoute] I belive your image is actually a combination of 2 or more pre-existing mattepaintings and you just recombined them. I am not clear with the rules but for me that is not a good way of creating matteapaintings

Rep Power: 3 ![]() | It looks good! (with a few pointers here and there, like the black around the fire). If eyecon's remark is true though, than that is in fact (how I understand it) not a good way of creating mattepaintings. I can understand that it's a good personal exercise though. If it's all done by you, great job and all the luck in the challenge! By the way Eyecon, exceptionally skillfull and professional portfolio you have there! You surely do truly deserve that "P" in your award showcase. I hope I get one, one day :).

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Well it is taken from another mattepainting, here is a link: CGTalk - ATLANTIS :: WINNERS :: Sorry Abhisheka. If you want to learn mattepainting, then do it the right way, lifting images like this will get you in trouble eventually, and that is something you don't want. Hanzjepanzje: HAHA, Thanks. Mattepainting has been my long time passion. That "P" is really an honor for me, I am quite humbled by it and very glad to receive one. In due time I'm sure you too will get one. :)

Rep Power: 3 ![]() | My entry Here's my entry. It's loosely based on the shot of the map in Peter Jackson's King Kong. In the movie Jack Black's character looks more closely at the map at a spot what seems to be a stylized face of an ape. I didn't want to just make a scary cliff with a ruin on top (although I did start out with that in mind, matter of fact, still have the sketch hangin' next to me :). And I also didn't want to make the face to obvious. This project involved a lot of image modification, detail brushing and color correcting. Tell me what you think and the best of luck to everyone competing in this challenge! ![]() ![]()

Rep Power: 3 ![]() | I think both methods are fine. I used both photographs and handbrushing, and If I'm not mistaken, you're free to use both. Good luck!
