As for the first part, the actions described are the actions you do in the everyday prayer. So the Prophet pbuh was just performing a normal prayer. His reason was that the sun and moon are signs of Allah, and the eclipse does not signify any event, it is just another sign of Allah. So at that time you should remember Allah by praying.
