If you would like to request 3ds max specific tutorials...

I may be able to help you when I have my free time.

If you are in need of any 3ds max specific tutorials that may have yet to be written, post your request here. I generally write simple tutorials for modeling and using techniques/modifiers. I need something to do to contribute to the 3dm community again but I've lost my sense of imagination lately and need your ideas to fuel that part of me again.

Post away..I'm open to all ideas but may not be able to respond to every request sent to me..I'll try my best though so don't be afraid to send a request in. Thanks and I look forward to hearing back from the community!

Well I have a simple question, it's been a while since I used 3ds max so it may sounds stupid, but: I'm trying to get an animation going, really simple, where I have a wall I will put a texture on, and in the middle is a text. What I'm trying to do is make a hole in the wall shaped like the text, so I can put a light behind the text so it shines through (text is glass-like).

The point is that I forgot how to make that hole in the wall, I can do it in illustrator but that obviously is nothing like 3ds max.

Well, I think that you could perhaps create a 3d text object (from the shapes dialogue, then text), then add an extrude modifyer so it's 3d. Afterwards, you could take the object over to the wall and then use the boolean modifyer and cut out the text shape from the wall. If you have any issues let me know.
