Rep Power: 5 ![]() | I'm going to give this a try. Thankyou for opening this competition to everyone. I don't know much about producing something like this but the work so far on the forum is inspiring. I hope to learn a lot from the experience. Heres my first sketch of an idea... It's a street scene from an historic part of the city with a glimpse of the devastated skyscrapers in the distance. The roof areas are damaged or ripped from their frames but the low level stone buildings have survived well. The survivors have set up barracades in the narrow streets to protect themselves from the ravaged populous in the new city. However, the radioactive infection is spreading into this area by airborne spores contaminating the water and attaching to the built environment. My initial thought is that the scene is dark and brooding due to the heavy dust filled sky with little or no artificial light. Only the radioactive spores floating on the breeze will light the scene like fireflys. Just got to do it now ![]() Last edited by <Lions>; 10-28-2007 at 05:13 PM.. |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | I'm blocking out the street scene. It's an old street so the building are close together creating a claustraphobic space. The street winds up a hill towards a church at the top so I'm stepping each building. Working on the distance structures next which should add a good degree of depth and scale. The camera is fixed for the moment at head height with a portrait composition. |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Some update WIP images. I've working on detailing the Cathedral in the distance. Due to the distance I'm trying to keep the detailing to a minimum while retaining enough modelling to suggest it's all there. Working my way down to the rotunda and the tall main windows. More detail will be added using texturing. Damage will added at the end. |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Thanks for the kind comments guys. I've been pretty ill for 3 days so I only managed to get going again this morning. It's great to see all the updates on the other threads and some new entrants too .Here is an update on the cathedral. It's a bit rough in places but I think it'll be fine for a background model. I've had to cut a few corners otherwise it would eat into the time left. Just a few details to add then I'll start on the foreground street. Last edited by <Lions>; 11-05-2007 at 06:35 PM.. |
