Rep Power: 10 ![]() | Ghost City: Infection Challenge - FAQ Hi folks =) If you have any question, please post it this thread but before read our rules http://www.3dm3.com/competition/ghost_city/rules.php. Thanks! Can we use more than one software? Yes! You can use so much program how many you need. Will it be possible to post multiple Renders from different views from our created scenes? You can make multiple Renders from different views but in voting will participate only one render (final). I want to be sure, Can we use any photo (for bump) or texture which belong someone else? You can use photo as for texturing but NOT for background. Does everything in a scene have to be entirely of an artists original creation? Yes it does. When will be the last date to post an ENTRY to join this contest? At the time of the Deadline that is shown on the front page of the contest. On what screens are the images going to be judged (TFT or CRT)? Both. Can I participate in both 3d scenes and 3d character contest categories? Yes, artists are allowed to participate in all three categories. But with following conditions: - Participant will recieve highest awards (1st,2nd and 3rd and etc.) for one of the category only. - No parts of an artwork devoted to a certain category may be used to create an artwork for the other category. Can I use my character from 3d Character category to put it into a 3d Environment category scene? As it followes from the previous answer - no. Welcome: http://www.3dm3.com/competition/ghost_city/

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | If we choose to post in the 3d environment challenge, does we have to insert in the scene also people or can we just model a part of the city without human or pets?

Do you consider that can texturing, or background? (if I put it on a plane, this will be considered as 'texturing' right?) Thanks :) Last edited by Need_Help; 10-15-2007 at 07:58 AM. |

| OxHidE3d | Need_Help "Exceeding any conceivable limits radiation doses hadn't killed citizens. Only few of them were lucky to die. The rest of them were doomed to a much more unpleasant fate. Mutations with unthinkable transforming power turned citizens, their pets and all the living of City-7 into something horrible" there could be monsters or creatures after a nuclear breakdown... |

Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Answers lordmathayus, buddy32, Oxhide, Need_Help: Characters if they are even present in a scene aren't the main part. But they also can become a good addition. The question is what you want judges to estimate. If 3d or 2d scene - no characters in front (so no need to make them detailed) or no characters at all. If 3d character - no need of detailed background (even photo may be used as a background here or no background at all). Monkey Wrench: Something like that and something in addition adib: matte-painting is allowed for a background. Just keep in mind that judges will estimate wireframe also and if there would be not much of a wire maybe it's better for you to take part in 2D Environment. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Hi, Q: Does everything in the scene have to be entirely of the artists original creation or can one use existiing damaged / decaying buildings and mutated people and critters? I have some people, critters and wrecked or decaying buildings that I can put together in a proper scene, but if I have create everything one vector or poly at a time.... |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | I was thinking of doing something in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R style but I think I will go for a more realisitic view and do something from the original Chernoybol Disaster, because what is more devastating to model than a real life event? I am a bit worried that what I plan to create may upset some people because I am going to be depicting imagery from a real event with real people, so if anyone is going to have some issue with me using imagery like this for my models please let me know my email is fishstickgeorge007@hotmail.com, please I do not want to cause anyone to be upset by my modelling so let me know...

| Member | @darkmalice : I think you can just create any scene that you think is good, since you can't make everyone like your image (everyone is having different 'brain' and is thinking different thing, just like a food, some people may like it, some people may not. So, you should make something that you like at first, after that, people will post comments during your work in progress (its written in the 'information' of the competition) Thanks :) |
