Rep Power: 6 ![]() | LOST WORLD - bechira sorin Hi. I'm new around here. I saw this vesy promising challenge name and I decided to participate. Until now, I will try to make a world of mixed cultures that passed away...now only can be seen in an desert environment giving a sad mood but also giving the viewer the the power to understand their strong culture background. This I will try to make it happen in Photoshop mostly, using picture images collages and handpainting thechniques....shortly, a mattepainting. Maye I will make some compositing in After Effects to bring it to life. That is for now....back to work! Good luck to all. One question: in the 2d challenge can we use an camera projection or basic 3d shapes painted over, or for this the entry must be on the 3d part of the challenge? .................................................. ..... After an entire weekend of brainstorming, I decided to change my concept a bit. So, the new ideea of my lost world it will be represented in a peacefull environment, a warm one, where many nations live together in peace and harmony.....yes, it may have some political ideea underneath...A PERFECT WORLD WHERE ALL THE NATIONS CAN LIVE IN PEACE AND HARMONY. ....this is my lost world..... Rep Power: 10 ![]() | Welcome to our forum and good luck. In 2d challenge use must present 2d image, works made in 2d software but you can use any materials as camera projection or photos. No 3d soft

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Hi. Here is my work in progress. The sketch is representing the new ideea. Was done after a hard brainstorming.....:D ....and around two days of searching the right composition that should do. Of course it will be more detailed, with more human made structures, and possible some flying machines. Tell me what do u think? The real comp size is 2k (that means is 2000 pixels wide). |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Thank u guys. I'll try to do my best on this one. I am developing the concept and I was thinking at two possibilities: 1. An old world, full with ruins, where in the sky u can see an space shuttle flying over the landscape and just discover my lost world. It will have an contrast of hitech-old ruins of architecture. or 2. An world were all these buildings "are alive", I mean populated, with old style like flying machines and stuff. This one should catch a moment of the life of those inhabitants as they lived in that lost world of mine. What do u think? Wich do u like more? I hope u can give me an feedback on this one. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | this is beatifull!! i cant see how from the perspective you can emphasize the fact that there are people living there... they will be too small to observe them.. again, beatifull.. how much of it is mattepaiting (photos) and much your painting? |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Thank you. The view can be brought to life by adding some ships on the water, or some oldstyle flying baloons in the sky. There are some possibilities. The first sketch is fully handpainted, only the human-made stuctures are photos (as it can be seen by the fact that they are a rough collage, just to give sense, scale and perspective). The refined parts in the work in progress is made by photo collages and ajusted by handpainted parts to blend together. The atmosphere and the light-mood is added by handpaint. Rep Power: 0 ![]() | if you can, bring it to life! :) i have few picky crits for your picture... they are not serious, because as i said, the picture is beatifull, but they are things that when i stare too much at the picture i notice. :) the two tower, by the terrain and perspective it is appear that they are in the same distance of viewer, however, one is smaller and offcontrast, which makes it appear much more far away.. it is confusing abit.. the blending of the small tight builded houses seems bad with the cliffs behind them.. maybe if you could raise some to be higher then the hill ground so they will stand up abit it and break the round shape of the hill.. the birds... if you look at the far birds.. they appear to be in the size of a big window.. which is really really big.. however, the short distanced birds seem the same type of bird but look relatevly much smaller comparing to far ones.. so either scale up the close ones, or scale down the far ones.. you could, of course, go fantasy and make those birds a small dragons which will indicate hugh size of the buildings :) the two eatern towers (from angkor wat maybe?) dont blend with the western castle in the far top right.. i suggest you replace it with a some sort of buddhist temple. |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Thank you for your crits. Yes, you are right. Since this is a WIP, I will fix the problems you've noticed. Constructive crits are always welcomed. |

Long time no post here...I had a tough ending last year....but now I have more time and I hope I can finish this piece of work as I imagined at the begining of the contest. Meanwhile, inspired by the works of Herve Leblan and Dana Daukshta posted here for the inspiration for the contest, I created this piece of work.
