"The Lost World" - RabidHealer

Hi, I had a previous concept for my project but i decided to drop the idea and start again.

I have 2 ideas and I would like you to help me decide on wich one to develop; both ideas are based on these two beautiful sketches created by Edwin Rhemrev, a great concept/3d artist who gave me permission to use his sketches for this contest.
I plan to create a background story but first I have to decide which concept to use.

Please post your votes and comments about both sketches.

depends on what your lost world should present, if you feel good with fallen civilisation no 1 is your choice. on the other hand if you want to show "operational" civ then no 2 is for you

my bet is on 2nd sketch, I agree with minimus about the theme

I like the 2nd one a lot too, I think it suits more the kind of idea I want to develop. The other sketch would be a very interesting concept to work on too.

I think the "mountain civilization" idea is a lot harder to make and I agree with anen, it is a very hard theme to work on, but the sketches are only inspirational and I dont plan to make an exact copy of them.

Thanks for your comments and keep them comming.

Hey Carlos, Edwin here!

Again, very cool you decided to pick one of my paintings as your subject for this contest, i'm really curious what you'll be able to do with it!

As far as the choice between these 2 paintings (both are at least a year old I think, I myself can't really look at them anymore, but it's good to see they still inspire other people :p), I think the atlantis one is more interesting to model, because you've got more elements which you'll be able to use to create an interesting scene. Alot of contestants are going to create BIG views I think, while I think a smaller scene like the atlantis one is much better, you can tell a story with a single image much easier.

Anyway, I'll be sure to keep checking this tread, best of luck!

-Edwin

The second sketch its quite a romantic view of a lost civilization couse it does not refer directly to a lost city a destroyed city or whatever but the dive of that lost soul to the unknown could really send the image of a lost hope, a lost civilization in the end...where there is no turning back. (something like that lol) well at least its what I read in this image.

Good luck :P

Hey Edwin,
Thanks for the post, I agree with you in the way you look at the atlantis sketch, theres indeed a tendence to do big scenes and making the atlantis scene would give me more room to detailed modelling and the opportunity to make a scene from a small and different perspective.
In the other hand I like a lot the epic impact that has the second skecth and thats what I would like to imprint on my 3d scene.

Thanks again for all your comments, I think i'll make a decision soon :)

wow. Both images look good. but first one represents 'Lost Civilisation' better. Second one looks gorgeous but i'ld say go for the atlantis.
