Rep Power: 0 ![]() | "The Lost World": Qoo Decided I will take a shot at a challenge. Love the idea behind this one! Title (To theme in with the competition): The lost city of Alexandria. Alexandria: Once the greatest city west of the great plains of Arin. Had the best trade in all the kingdoms combined; silks, spices, rare cloth and everything the mind can imagine. Some even called it the city of the gods. Yet, to all the power and wealth this city possessed, it was not enough. What many refer to as "The great death", where emperors grew jealous of the ever growing city, decided that it would continue no more. Soon after the siege started, a plague ravished through the city. Leaving it cold and empty. It stands now, as it did all those long centuries ago. Last edited by Qoo; 11-20-2006 at 07:54 AM. Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Hi all Just a little update! My birthday today!!! :mad14: So not a lot will be achieved tonight either. Anyway, did some more detailing (no where near finished with details) and also did a quick forest density test, just to see what I’ll be dealing with later. Going to start some other things, just to get them into the picture, but will mainly be concentrating at what is already there and getting more details. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | thenad: There will be a main one in the middle (the one that the city will be build over), and I am still thinking of adding waterfalls, one on each of the mountain/cliffs and joining up to the main river, and perhaps a big one right at the back. Just to add some interesting features to make it more "grand". The texturing still needs some tweaking. Some areas more than others. But what I have there, is the general "just" of what I want to do. I highly doubt that I will be capable of even turning on a computer tonight without breaking something. So after many many grand seconds of thought, I decided to leave it for tonight. But will resume work on the project tomorrow. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Really means a lot. I'll down a drink for every person that reads this topic... just for good measure ;) |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Been away for a bit sorthing things out. I did a little bit however (though it would have been better to do more as I feel I am running out of time). I wold like some general crit on things. Not smaller details (because I will sort them out), but general ideas. Just so I know if it is looking alright (also, the mountain on the left, I know it looks strange, but I am thinking about have clouds cover it. To get some scale). Anyway, did the base on which the city stands. Some sort of plant/tree. And did a little teeny tiny bit of lighting. Thanks for looking. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Onizuka: Well, that's something. I will work on that to get them less plastic-like. If anyone else can spot something (sometimes you need a fresh eye), it will go much appreciated. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | asd.. i knew that i was been misunderstanding... fault of my english.. XD when i wrote plastic..i dont meant like a plastic bottle. I meant the work u did for the shape of the mountain and the nice texturing :D they seems smoothness by the wind. did u used phong material? maybe u can try some dirty maps on it with a multimaterial (dont know which program u use) i like the huge plant\tree except the extreme torsion that it has. Trees have very nice shape to start. Chestnut are amazing :) try to take a look: Chestnut 1 Chestnut 2 Chestnut 3 Chestnut 4 good luck! |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Tried a little different lighting scheme. Made it more moody (hopefully). Trying to get the mood of the scene just right (forgotten, lost, cold and ruined). Living where I live, I got a good idea of bad weather. So i'll be using that as my weather. I might change it later depending on certain conditions but, i'll see how it goes. Thinking of adding rain if I decide to keep this bad weather scheme. Any ideas welcome. |
