Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Samson_Portriat: Unfortunately, the only way I get him to look this good is by jumping through a few hoops in Photoshop. I have not been able to get him to look this "crisp" with displacement and texturing alone. I am at the stage where I take my renderings into Photoshop and "idealize" them a bit. My next step is to try to figure how to get him as close to the idealized images as possible in true 3d for the animation. If I can just get past this stage it will move much faster since I have had at least some experience with environmental modeling. This character stuff is all new to me. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | We are in agreement, I am out of the studio for a few days on personal business, but will rework some anatomy in zbrush when I return:). If you have specific flaws that you notice need work please list them here. So far I know I need to rework the:

| CG Artist | Man i love the mapping on this guy, looks cool, only thing i felt is that very little streching has occured in the wrinkled parts, maybe you should try to make them a bit more sharp! and on more thing i wanted to ask, dont take it otherwise, Do you really need to modell all these details? Whether they will visible during the final render? just a thought :) |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Great question and observation. I should explain this a little better since I did not do a good enough job in the beginning. I have some very important personal goals and deadlines for a new site I am building that is a reflection of my personal art since all of my professional art is totally proprietory in nature and can not be shown to the public until after a certain time period. So the only way that I could do this competition is to incorporate at least some of it into what I am planning for my new portfolio site. I had already promised my web designer at least some profile work of a character for the design we have been working on by this weekend. So I had to get at least the "bust" of the character done by yesterday. I need further detail completed on the body by a deadline next month for the splash page which will actually have a short animation on it of the character breaking chains and roaring as he does. I really wanted to do an idea for this competition that I could use to reflect my personal "best" at the time for my art site so I sort of worked the "lost" world idea into something else I had been thinking of doing and combined the two and changed it up so that I could actually do the competition. Otherwise I would never had the luxury of time for a competition like this. I really hope this explains why I am doing so much initial character work on what will eventually be a massive cinematic that is environmentally based until the last few seconds which will be full of characters meeting there perceived doom therefore giving the impression of it truly being a lost civilization. When I get back to the studio I will start putting up my storyboard so that you can see exactly what I have in mind:). I realize this is a massive undertaking for a solo artist to endeavor to do in a matter of about three months, especially someone that has never done any of this type of work at all lol. I believe that if one does not set a defined and measureable goal then one would never know if he was offtrack:). So I tend to set my goals high and hope I at least get half way there and you never know ... I just might make it. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I am honored to have been in the same competition with such phenomenal artistic talents. Due to my private business needs I was unable to complete this competition, but am thankful for the opportunity to do what I did before I had to focus my time in other places. I have since expanded my company to include a number of talented artists and have been swamped getting all of the things completed that need to be done for a new company. Our work will be gradually posted on our company site: http://www.creativxchange.net . We opened officially on March 5, 2007 and are already swamped with work and bids so I will likely not have time for future such competitions, but will be sure to check in from time to time and view the awesome work of you all:). |
