Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Lost World - BenKashmir hello all, its my first post here on 3dm3.. first of all i would like to note that i am entering this challange with a big question mark, as i may wont have much free time during the upcomibg period of time... so i may not get to finish it, i will, however make my best at doing so.. heres my concept so far - "Living Lost city" the concept is about an ancient lost city, which is very much alive.. but how? those ancients wise man worshiped the water and circular movement of earth and stars.. they built a huge dirt ramped mountain to be as their city near an enormous waterfall much like the iguazo falls, they made water turbines crafted from heavy, gold covered, rock. this turbine activate the silver plates which used as esculator for travelling across the city and beyond.. the mechanism is simple, the water provide the power, the wheel provide the rotation.. heres the intial sketch: ![]() 1 - common people living level, contain most of the citys pupolation , has several small temples and locals groce stores. 2 - commerical level, contain the big market, recreation parks, the big water stadium (they held some kind of, i need to think this thru, water games :)) and all sort of craftsmans, the part hidden from us facing the river is a military zone, accessed only by the supposed peoples.. 3 - high class living level - all the lords, artists, kings and preists live here. 4 - grand temple, built as a mayan pyramid only smooth (egypt mix with mayan pyramid) with a spinning crytal ball on top, as long as this ball swings, the city lives as it takes indication power of all 4 dams) and it will swing as long as the water come down the river. 5 - the esclators - those are silver plates upon chains rotated by the gold wheels serve as the road in the city, each level has also 2 circular roads wich arent drawn cause i need to figure where best to put them, also noe that the roads built clockwise movement - going up from right and down from left, they took this method after observing the sinking of water into a pipe. 6 - the 4 dams, those serve as bridges as well as the water turbines, 1 for each level aside from helping the big task of sending escalted roads further into the kingdom, providing energy and movement across massive system of gear wheels 7- the water stadium 8 - the big market. vegetation - as they are harmonic to nature they will have trees and grass in the city.. well some info, i plan on having 50,000 peoples in the city.. 10 peoples in each house makes it 5000 buildings for me to make only for the living.. aside from the commerical and temple buildings.. so i will have the main living house duplicated for the most parts, to save modelling time, and it will be as simple as can be and i will rely on textures with it. i will also not model all the city, just the viewable parts. the perspective isnt clear for me yet... any suggestions? about the gear system, most of it is digged, but for the dams i will build it, already have in my mind the way it works, will also post sketches of the method once i make them... it is possible in "reality" hight between each level consist of 50-100 meters making the grand temple elevated at 200-400 meters high from the ground. BG as long as waterfall will have to be maid 2d... theres no way i can put particles in. softwares i'm gonna use modo + maya for the 3d photoshop + alias sketchbook pro for the 2d. well, thats it, wich me luck :) Last edited by benkashmir; 11-28-2006 at 06:30 PM. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | tks real3d!, as i told you in your thread, yours is a very good concept also.. and i believe that good image needs to come from a good concept, so your definitly in the golden road to making it so :) well, abit updating.. i did a 3d sketch of the grand temple as i see it.. it will be a built mock up of the surrounding, ie- the temple will also be as a waterfall... like a gigantice fountain. |

i also tried to draw in my mind first but when you start drawing is when you realyl come to sharpen and make ideas.. so you dont have to have a solid idea in mind (altough it helps) from start.. the above 2d sketch is my 6th sketch after doodling many others.. and i still need to improve it so i hope tommrow to update with a bit new design i am making to the city.. not something radical but a more logical change to the overall city construction.. | |

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Hey, really strong concept! Good luck to you. Looks like our temples look somewat alike (I'm gonna put vegetation on mine too) - but your water on the temple looks really cool! I can't wait to see your concept unfolding. |
