Rep Power: 0 ![]() | The Lost World - Ancient Capital yo to all! This is my first post, i'm an italian guy and this is my first contest :D Letz begin!! (plz be patience with my english!) First of all thx for this contest:very beatiful theme :D.. ok now i begin.. I was always been affascinated from Maya and Egyptian culture and art, so my main idea is to take these as point of reference for arkitecktural and artistic side. In the other hand i would like explain a concept too [so not just some elemets placed here and there like a flower composition (nothing against flower composition :P)]. The concept is to create a working-ancient-capital where elements that are involved seem believable. The culture of the Ancient Capital citizens was very refined. For example they dont used squares to draw the plant of their city, but equilateral triangles (this also to reflect their believe in a tri-eyes-something divinity). So in the center we find the 'temple' (that isnt really just a temple, it is a warehouse, an engine cistern to supply water and a sort of weapon to defense the city). Around the temple three pillars that represent the presence of the divinity on earth and at the same time are observer towers that facing the three district of the capital. The districts are where the citizen lives and do their businness (trade, workshop and obviously house to rest :P) From the center of the the capital start three big paths that bring out to the gates of the city. At the sides of the paths there are the cultivated fields. They also builded up great walls around the fields and districts maybe to defend the city from ostile population or maybe from ancient creature. Ok.. i write a lot (maybe too much :P) but its important to know that their way of life was uniqueness infact they were anarchist. here some of my first sketch for the main idea of the Ancient Capital -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- somewhere in sketches there are some italian words.. sry about that i'll pay more attention in future Last edited by Onizuka; 11-29-2006 at 06:08 AM. Rep Power: 0 ![]() | yo again! Today i tried to draw a 3D sketch of the capital. It just help me to understand what works and what not. For example now i notice that city lie on a lifeless plane.. i'll work on it.. I'm continuing the hand-drawing phase to sketch out the different elements inside the city (such as house, wall detail, ornament, etc). :type: When i was moving camera inside the model i saw a lot of shot that i like, but i can choose just one for the contest... this is very hard... |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | thx Real :D i hope to do a good work And now i post two new sketches. I'm actually working on the look of the buildings. I'm not very sure if yellow will be the final colour (i'm looking for materials that can be believable for the city) in the meanwhile its look like right on this buildings: a twin palace and a rural house. I began to model the central structure, but it's in a embryonic stage, nothing really nice to see now :P |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Really thx for the encouragement :) I hope to show u some 3D soon, but for now... sketches again :P. This time i post the capital's walls. a little bit huge i guess XD... btw i included also the concept idea of how the wall works: the towers (many along the wall) can hold a lot of ranged soldier that can hit the enemy with arrows from the slits placed near the top of the tower. At the top a place for a catapult (or any kind of weapon like that... i really didnt think yet). in the middle a sculpture hides the pipe for the fuel oil. Moreover walls have passageway inside it to allow soldier to move between the various towers cya soon :) Last edited by Onizuka; 12-01-2006 at 11:22 PM. |
