| oh..yeah by the way I forgot to tell you the program used for this..it is 3ds max 7 for the houses ,vue 5 for the environment and zbrush for the guy..the flying dude is low poly due to the high amount of poly count on the whole picture however the hi-res flying guy has a lot of detail..dimples and pimples..lol..then it was photoshop to composite the pic..color correction intensifying some of the shadows... |

| actually the main idea was like the one you mention..however with the same buildings..but my comp is really slow and it was taking almost a week and a half to render..I found it illogical so I just used a wip I had for the trees wich had an ok resolution and added the houses from there..with alpha maps..it was pretty intense because I basically finished like only hour before the timeframe was over..so thats the reason why it doesnt have any more things in it..thats also the reason why im really wondering how it looks . but you look closely at the sky youll see flocks of flying people leaving the place...there is 3 flocks left ,middle and right..they are very small..thanks for the comment though.. |

| Actually the distribution can be done in two different simple ways and both are done in Vue one- making the tree and dropping it on to the terrain..extremely simple but very tidious... two- by making the material in Vue an environment and adding the object (trees in this case) and then sparsing them around to your liking..changing the way they interact with eachother and sizing them..now this is best done whille the terrain is still flat because sometimes (not always) the placing of the objects is done only on flat terrain..it depends on the material..this is what I did for this cliff..and if you do it before you displace the terrain the trees go on evenly and even after you displace the terrain the trees will stay at same spot..in other words the trees raise with the terrain..it sounds like a lot but its actually done very fast and very simple.. Now for the rendering it is going to take a long time because the common tree has even if it doesnt have that many leaves has about 2,000 or more leaves because otherwise it looks empty..and we dont want that...soooo...these trees here have about 50,000-70,000 leaves and that may be the reaon why they look sort of thick..so the render is going to take a very long time no matter what...especially if you use a lot of trees like in this pic...trust me..Im not kidding it was stressful watching the computer render only 5 % in about 12 hours.... and my comp isnt great but it isnt a piece of crap either ..its a p4 2.99 ghz 1.5 ram..It really depends on the comp but regardless it will take a while to render... You could also use alpha maps for the trees and clone them however they would kinda flat but it is possible with a little compositing...Ive done it before... |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Too bad that thumbnail of that tree was the last you put on your topic instead of your real work. Your work is cool man, it would get some votes for sure if it was on thumb from the beginning.
