lightwave osnaps and importing geometry?

i am brand new to the lightwave community.....have two questions that i can not find in my reference books. i humbly submit to the mercy of the courts..........

question 1)
i've constructed two curves in order to create a loft. i need to place an ellipse at the base of those two curves. i need the exact top and bottom quadrants of the ellipse to meet with the bottom of the curves. how do you tell lightwave to snap to endpoints, quadrants, midpoints...etc?

question 2)
i need to import solid models from other programs such as solidworks, pro-e, etc, into lightwave....how do i do that?

thank you....... =)

i want to extrude the ellipse up along the two curves in order to create a joystick handle. the end goal is to create an organic form.

Sorry for the delay, I've been very busy...

OK, I'll show you one way to create a joystick handle.

You don't need to have curves for that - just create some polys, move, scale and knife them.

1. Make a ball.

2. Select the polys that face the bottom and move them downwards.

3. Disable the selected polys and hit "Tab".

4. Voila, you see a nicely rounded shape, but it could be improved.

5. Choose the knife tool and make a slice close to the sphere to make it look more separated from the top handle.

6. Click on Points, select the points which you have just created and the points at the bottom.

7. Hit 'h' and scale them till you like the shape.

8. Scale the lower points a bit more.

9. So, here is your joystick .o) Scale and modify it as you like it.

10. Have fun!

If you have any questions, just let me know :o)

Cheers,

Stefan
