"Help"...Come to this thread please

hi guys , I want to ask you to introduce me a powerful Game engine that supports 3dsmax formats
such as "*.max" format . By the way I like this game engine lets me add "Demo" during the game and
make a game with fairly good graphic " Such as silent hill 1 " .
If you can help and introduce me a game engine like this , Please let me know your idea .

I am waiting for your replies .

Thanks

I don't think its so easy, and if you want to have nice graphics, you should have good knowledge on other programming language (if you want to have 'special effects' like anti-aliasing, bloom, reflection/refraction etc.). If not, I believe that more game engine can only 'render' out something that is normal, perhaps don't even have nice shadows. (remember, if you want to make a game, you must keep the polygons as least as possble).

Hope that helps you :)

Honestly, I have no idea on PC game programming. If you ask me about Flash games, yes, I know how to make them and I know how to 'teach' people as well. Of course, the basic is to have models for your models, but after that, I have no idea on how to put it in a game engine, and which programs are needed to do so etc.

Hope you will get reply from some people with more knowledge than me, or maybe you can try to post in some game developer forums?

Thanks :)

first of all. i dont think it's any program that suport max format. i think "hammer" the steam engine for half life 2 suports the xsi software really good.

but if you want to use max you can still use steam engine but then you need to down load a converter. "ps you need max 8 or lower, becaus max 9 converter isn't out yett"

or els you need to try unreal engine, torque engine, ogre engine some of them. but they cost money but you can down load free demos that are relly good. and on torque engine and unreal engine you can finde manny help full tutorials on scripting and converting:) hope this gives a starter.

Hey. From my current knowledge i have, xna so far has been a big help. I dont know if it imports .max form. But in 3DS max you can save it as .3ds and import it.

Also the best languages to learn are.
Visual c#
C++

Best programs to use that i know of.

Visual c# 2005
Visual C++ 2005
Visual basic 6 and 2005

They are also releasing a new version visual studio 2008 which include better functionality with xna from what i have heard.

But making your own game engine is deffinitly helpful.

(Knowledge from: I was going to be a game programmer, but instead decided to do graphics.)
