Well sometimes the moderators just dont have time to do that. They are posting a challange as soon as they can.And about the credits-well its a sort of reward for being active in 3DM3.Admins are thinking of rewards again credits, but there still arent any of them.

You need create a 3d model for limited time (1-2 hours) and post it in challenge thread. To win your work must be created to short time and mode with high modeling skill

Is a normal map judged as geometry or a texture?

If i create my low-res model in my 3d software and import it into Zbrush to sculp for my fine details. I need to use the normal map created for my original low-resl model. Is this allowed? The normal map is a texture. However it is part of the geometry.

hi Scratch, well Normal Mappiing is a part of texturing. I really think its not allowed in Speed modellling challenge as its for testing the skills ov yer modelling, as in how well can ye give detailing to yer models by polygons etc.

Normal Map is like an advanced version ov a bump map, where all ye have to do is to create a good normal map, and evn if ye apple a proper suitable normal map to a simple plane, it can give ye an illusion ov a well detailed carving or something like dat.....this really doesn't show yer modelling power, right friend??? :)

I hear what you are saying. Fair comment. And if that's the rules, so be it. However, By sculpting geometry and manipulating polygons in zbrush I think it does show your modelling power. I could sculp and manipulate polygons in Maya the same way but it would be a lot slower.

you model something in the contest thats going on right now.
in the post you set the following data:
modelling time:
texturing time:
rendering time:
software used:

and then you attach a clay render picture in file format .jpg or .gif and a wireframe picture of your model in file format .jpg .gif

and next time read the rules.

quarries regarding Speedmodelin!

Hi
I am interested in speed modeling.
But I have some quarries, like the modeling time will be given fine!!
But is it possible if I check the competition's topic ,then collect some references or sketch my references then start my modeling?
How will you calculate the timing of the modeling process?

Please inform me.
Thank You
