What about a free modeler.

I know I can use 3D Studio and Lightwave to make the model, but some of us are short on cash and on a 56k modem  , which makes downloading anything a pain.
So, can I use Blender3D, Wings3D, or Anim8or for the competition?
Thanks.

My weakness in modeling is speed. So, I was wondering if I could start a timer model and once time expires if I haven't got anything to show for restart from scratch and keep trying till I accomplish a desirable model within the given time.

Also, speed modeling is all about modeling not about rendering or anything, right?

if you fail, just try again, thats the way you learn ;) so thats ok.

yes i think the juges is looking more on how clean and nice the wires inn the model is and how many details you have gotten inn to it in so short time :)

but ofcourse if to images stands equal the nices render will winn ^^

So when I render does that have to be done within the time period?

btw, I don't think you can judge render time. If I used my rendering farm it wouldn't even be funny it would look like I had really efficient character...

For timing help there are also some free softwares to countdown or stopwatch
your modeling time: http://www.timeleft.info/

So you know how much time is left etc.. :)

only the modeling prosess i what count, and thats only the thing that will be looks at by juges. thats to make it more fair for people that have slow coputer that renders really slow ^^

rendering time and texture time is just to show others how much time you did on making that and looks more proffessional on the post ^^
¨
