This will be fun! Thanks a lot Vandal, for running this competition, and all. I learned more making the Speaker, and the flashlight I'm working on, than I ever have by just toying around with 3ds max. :)

Can't wait to see everyone's submissions. :)

My Maglite

Here's my maglite flashlight. At first I tried to render it, with just the main lamp, but after that I didn't see my modell clearly, so that's why so few rays come out from the flashlight(effectivly it rays a lot, but just a few is visible, because of the other lights and GI :) )
Modelling time: 1h 20 min
Materialling: 20 min
Software: 3ds max v.9.0

I have to say, Vandal thanks so much for running this competition. Seriously I've learned more about modeling, and rendering with these last two competitions, then I have ever taught myself.

Here's my go at a L.E.D flashlight:

Modeling TIme - 1 Hour 38 minutes
Materialing - 18 minutes
Software - 3ds max 5.1

edit- My wire render wouldn't upload...that doesn't disqualify me for editing this to get it on here does it?

Your very welcome Groene
I'm just the host for the speed modeling.
Really the thanks should go to 3DM3 for
having this website where we can all get
together and have a place to do this.

I'm happy your learning alot from this
thats what the speed modeling is all about
and your flash light is a very nice model the wire
is nice and clean, well done

And no you wont be disqualified for adding your wire with edit.
Edit is our friend, keeps people from posting 3 times in a row.

P.S. you dont have to render a wireframe you can just take
a screenshot from max.

Yeah! Oh, is there a function to take a screen shot in max? If so, how do I use it?

and thanks again Vandal. :)

Just hit the "print screen" button on your keyboard
and that takes a screen shot of your current open window.

then just open any graphics software like photoshop
and open new file then go to edit and paste.

and it will paste the screenshot.

and your welcome
