Rep Power: 0 ![]() | 5 oclock shadow Hi everyone. This is my first try at a speed modelling challenge. I thought I'd give it a go as it will help me bulk my Portfolio up for college and aid my skillz in modelling. I've been waiting for this challenge to start all week and as soon as I found out what the subject was, for some reason an old pocket watch jumped to mind. So I got some pictures for reference. Then got on with it basically. There isn't much to say about the model itself as its a bunch of Loft nurbs, Torusi (or torus's whatever) Splines nurbs and booles. Theres a couple of bump maps one for the stamp under the lid and another for the scratches on the glass surface. The watch probably isn't 100% correct to a antique watch expert as I took bits from a few different ones. And a bit more wear and tear on the textures would have looked good. I also wanted to have the face open to see some cogs underneath but I reckon I would have gone over the time limit if I got too detailed. As its my 1st time please tell me if anything isn't complying with the rules. Anyway...here it is. Hope you like it. BTW great challenge and I look forward to the next one. Modelling time: 4 hours Texturing time: 30 mins Rndering time: 5 mins Software: Cinema 4D Last edited by Stinger88; 03-23-2007 at 05:28 PM.. |

| Registered User | Stinger88 : Vey nice entry! The modelling is good and you've done great work with the textures, too! I made a clock, too, but it's a bit bigger one than stinger's... modelling (3dsmax 9) - 2,5 hours materials & scene setup - 45 minutes rendering (VRay) - I think it was around 10 minutes. |
