Rep Power: 5 ![]() | @oelli: as far as I can see from the picture he used a meshsmooth modifier. There are tutorials on the internet that can learn you understand and use the meshsmooth correctly. For this hard edge modeling look at this pic ![]() this way you can have smooth rounded surfaces but hard edges, just what you need. it's in a tutorial for modeling the helmet of iron man Model the Ironman Helmet - CGArena or this one, movie goes fast but just take a good look at what he does and what for. Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Its kinda like chamfering but not really. When you edge tension the goal is to keep your forms when you smooth it through subdivision. The difference is that when you chamfer it doesnt always do exactly what edge tensioning to do because it can create triangles and they create weird smoothing when subdivided. The tutorials Isdrasil posted are good examples. |

Left is Chamfering, right is Edge Thightening: ![]() The result when smoothed is this: ![]() as you see the right one has much nicer corners and edges. if you want the same with chamfering you will get to a level you wont be able to work with anymore.
