Rep Power: 2 ![]() | More changes to the Speed Modeling Rules Ok There has been a little confusion about the speed modeling and how it is judged, so I asked Stryker for one more upload spot for attachments. The reason for the new upload spot is from now on you are required to upload a Wire frame render and Clay render and if you want a textured render. The textured render will not be required, the judging is going to based on the wire frame and the clay only. If you want to texture your model and upload it thats fine but the textured render will have no part in the outcome of the judging. The reason for this is that this is a speed modeling challenge and the whole point of the challenge is to better your modeling skills by modeling faster and more efficient. So the texturing really doesn't apply to this. Thanks Vandal |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | He means like the flashlight I've attached. I know in 3ds max 5.1 to get this result.....simply puta plane under you object, then place a default skylight infront of, and tothe left of your object. Then go to adavanced lighting, and select light tracer. Heres a good tutorial as well: http://www.3dnuts.com/tutorials/render_wip.shtml |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | svetlanica the post that Groene07 put up is exactly what a clay render is and that is a very good tutorial for it. Thanks Groene. Turv I'm not sure if they will do this in the low poly challenge that is up to whoever is hosting that challenge witch I think might be Stryker. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Thanks again though, I always thought the point of a speed modeling challenge was well (speed modeling ;p) Although, many of us find our texturing skills below par, and I was wondering if we could maybe try to start up a texturing competition. The main challenge though is, I can't figure out a way to make it available to everyone. It would be cool if you could download a file of a model, and be judged on how well you can texture it. But...I don't know how you could get a model available in every 3d programs format. :? Just another thought... |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Ok I think Im going to need a little clarification, for the speed modelling, can we have wire frame and one Textured render without Clay Render? or does it have to be Wire frame and Clay render. Because Personally I dislike Clay Renders and perfer to use Textures...

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | woho!!! new rules, i like them. it's always funn to see some texture work but i totaly agree thats off topic for the speed MODELING contest. But then we don't need texture time. only modeling and render time? and one queston. displace map will be lookt at as texture right?

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Good to have you back Minimus. Displace map is part of the modeling to me. I know alot of people would say its part of texturing, but if you don't put a texture on it then.... Thats really a fine line witch I'm sure alot of people would have an opinion on, so for this challenge we will just say that its part of modeling. ![]() |
