Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Watching a Batch rendering in Maya Hi, I'm an experienced 3dsmax user and I'm learning Maya. I need to know can you watch Maya batch render your scene as it goes through each frame? I've just spent ages trying to figure out how to render more than one frame. My God, the render settings in Maya are horribly unfriendly to the new user. I had to go searching through a couple of books to find out how to render multiple frames, changing the render output can only be done through the File> Project > New, options and not in the Render settings window?? Its insane! Hopefully they will sort these things out soon, but if anyone knows how to watch a batch render that would be great, thanks. |

And the progress is kept under the display script editor - a small rectangle under the timeline next to the mel commands. There is also a "Show Batch render" in the rendering menu (F5 -> Render -> Show Batch Render) If you just want to check how the animation is going you can playblast it. Right click on the timeline and choose the last one "playblast" About the render output, well, in the render settings window you have a bunch of options (image format) that goes about 26 options, including .mov if you want to render a movie file directly - not recommended as you probably know. Hope it was helpful, if not, keep on asking. Which version of maya are you using? |

And you can also close the Maya while the batch render soft perform its task if you want... I just don't know if you can see the whole render time this way. Its possible write a script that can print it to file name, maybe. And I'd like I can pause a render, turn my pc off and after to continue the previous render from that point.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Thanks for the responses guys. I guess I just have to get used to different processes with Maya. I'm getting more used to it now, it was just the other day I needed something done fast and couldn't view things quick enough to see if I needed changes. Also I think I might need a new computer with more processors so I can work in Maya while it batch renders, without it stuttering along. Oh well, I'll get there in the end. I'm using Maya 8.5 PLE, don't know if they're going to release Maya 2008 PLE any time soon |
