Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Using a GPU for Rendering Hello Everyone, I'm Atnevon. I'm new to 3D Modeling, to Maya, and this forum. What brings me here is the search for a GPU question. This may sound newbish, but is there a way to optimize the power of my GPU to help in making those rendering frames go faster. I noticed dring my first rounds, it took 10 minutes for an 8.5x11 PSD at 200 DPI. During htat time, you would think I was running Orthos, because all 4 of my Q6600 cores were at 100%. Well, I play games, so I know my 8800GTX has some kick to it, I just wonder if it is possible to put that puppy to work. Thanks again everyone, and I look foreword to browsing here in my pursuit of more 3D work. -At |

| Registered User | A Quad Core Q6600 Is already quite fast at rendering. Rendering is mostly done by the CPU. Rendering will need to calculate alot of things, FG, GI or what you have enabled for your render. If you wish to render with your graphics card. Select Hardware rendering, this uses the Graphics card mostly. If you wish to have better quality renders, Try Nvidia Gelato, they support hardware rendering as well. Its an additional plugin for Maya. |
