Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Hi, I'm new to 3d and I have been using maya. I would like to know what are the industry standard programs used for rendering, modelling and animation. What is the best way to become a good 3d artist? At the moment I am trying to learn from different tutorials. Thanks, Bentley  Last edited by bentleyo; 10-16-2006 at 07:06 AM.. |

| Registered User | Hey My firs post in this forum :) The most popular are maya and max. Max is more comonly used for games and maya is used in movies(both cgi movies and fx for simple movies). ATM more soft comes into play, Houdini was used in the recent superman movie, and the c4d (cinema 4d) is getting more and more popular. The best way to become a 3d artist is to start simple. Most of newbies(not an insult) think that they can work on their own, set of to do some big works and obviously fail due to their lack of knowledge. This may sometimes force you uot of what you were doing. For tutorials a verry verry good tutorial for beginers: http://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/modPage.asp?ID=150 but it's not free, however will save you a coupe of *weeks* of time.
